We love our volunteers and appreciate the valuable role they play in the operations of the mansion. We could not be more excited to introduce you to one of our very first volunteers, Vicki Marino. If you have attended one of our Afternoon Teas or Historic Mansion Tours, you have probably met or visited with Vicki. Vicki excels in all of her volunteer responsibilities, but truly shines when she leads a private or group tour in her role as a Docent. Learn more about Vicki below and you’ll understand why we are lucky to have her on our volunteer team.
Hello, I’m Vicki. I’m a grandma to 10, mom to 5, and a child of God. I grew up on a Wisconsin dairy farm and as a young adult, I moved to Chicago and the adventure began. Over the past 30 years, my husband’s career has taken us to Chicago, IL; Indianapolis, IN; Brownsville, TX; Zionsville, IN; El Paso, TX; Carson City, NV; and Broken Arrow, our forever home!
Why do you volunteer?
I am a retired business owner (recruiting and motivational training) and have always loved working with people . In this season of my life, I enjoy volunteering at my grand kids school and my beloved Harwelden.
What made you choose Harwelden?
From my first visit, I was enchanted with Earl and Mary and their beautiful home. History had never been “My thing” but the Harwells and Tulsa quickly changed my perspective.
What surprised you the most about the mansion?
History comes to life at the Harwelden. It is beautiful, unique, and full of engaging stories about the Black Gold Row and the Magic City. I am honored to share this treasure.
